Last month saw the first ever RCP 360 event and what a day it was. With eight engaging speakers from across various industries, workshops, Q&As and even a prize draw it really was a day of education, innovation and elevation. Let’s take a look back at the day’s highlights.
We heard from the experts...
From hands-on workshops to insightful talks, throughout the day we heard from a panel of experts.
Let's talk waste
The day kicked off with waste management where we heard from Carla Brian, Head of Partnerships at Biffa and Tom Blake from the Excel Centre.
Carla led on all things legislation, discussing the future waste management landscape and sharing her insights into successes and learnings from recent regulatory changes.
Tom Blake then gave us a fascinating peek behind the curtain of the impressive 100-acre Excel site. We heard all about the business’ journey to better recycling, the challenges they faced and how Slim Jim Recycling Stations have transformed their waste management. He even set the scene by showing some pretty shocking images of waste from exhibitions and events.
We also heard from Sales Manager Ben Clibbery and Sustainability Manager Adriana Rodriguez who shared their own invaluable insights on waste management and sustainability.
A focus on hospitality
At lunch we zeroed in on hospitality, kicking things off with Jack Quick, Policy Director from UKHospitality. With his expertise on navigating key legislative issues and in light of recent recycling laws, it was invaluable to hear from him on key trends in hospitality with a focus on sustainability.
Next up we checked into the luxury Merrion Hotel, hearing from Head of Procurement & Sustainability, Marcin Sady, who shared practical advice on how small, continuous improvements and staff engagement drove meaningful sustainability changes across the hotel.
The hospitality section wrapped up with Aileen Williamson joining the panel after hosting her all-day workshop ‘Introduction to Sustainable Housekeeping’. This hands-on session earlier in the day was focused on how to measure carbon footprint and effectively carry out a waste audit, the importance of tracking emissions and how housekeeping can contribute to water conservation.
It wouldn't be an RCP event without a room packed with the latest innovations! From our iconic BRUTEs (full-sized and mini) to housekeeping carts and HYGEN mops, all the the big hitters were out on display!
We also held a prize draw, challenging attendees to get their RCP 360 passport stamped at every station for the chance to win a bundle of Newell products for themselves and vote for a charity for RCP to donate £1000 to. The results are in – thanks to all our attendees we were able to donate the money to FoodCycle; an organisation on a mission to make food poverty, loneliness and food waste a thing of the past.
All that’s left to say is a massive thank you to all our speakers, attendees and team who helped make RCP 360 possible.
